Personal Statement
My artwork focuses on nature and how it connects to the way we see and feel things. I like working with organic shapes and details, like wings or leaves, because they show beauty in things people don’t always notice. I started with realistic pieces like self-portraits and watercolors of animals and landscapes, which helped me build my skills. Over time, I began to experiment more with color, texture, and materials. My insect series was an important step in that process, because it taught me to appreciate small, everyday things in a new way. My large mixed-media moth piece was a fun way to combine acrylic, clay, and collage while showing how my style has grown. It also has personal meaning, reminding me how my art continues to change as I keep exploring and learning. Each piece I make helps me see the world in a new way, which is shown through the ways my art is always changing, along with my skill set progressing.
